Opening/Closing Your Sidebar On Firefox

You can toggle the sidebar open and close using the icon in your address bar.

On the top of your browser in the address bar, you can click the Better The World icon to open and close the sidebar. If you don't want the icon here, you can turn it off using the sidebar "configure" link.

Is it easy to install?

Yes! All it takes is a few simple clicks of the mouse. If you know how to use a web browser (which you should if you're reading this) then you'll be able to install this add-on with ease. There will be step-by-step instructions with pictures to guide you once you click the install button.
What kinds of ads will I see?

There are 3 different types of ads you may see through Better The World. Ads for corporate social responsibility programs, social products & services, and not-for-profit and innovation organizations will be featured.
Will you track the websites I go to?

Absolutely not. It's against our privacy policy. We do not track or store any information about your web surfing habits. We value the privacy of our members and will never collect this type of information from you. We determine what type of information to serve you based on the cause that you're supporting, not your web surfing habits.
Will it slow down my computer?

Nope, this is an add-on that only runs when you open your web browser. It has no ill-effects on your computer.
Can I shut it off?

Easily! If you need to turn it off, simply click on the little Better The World logo in the bottom right of your web browser, it will toggle it off until you decide to turn it on again. Remember, you can only raise money for your cause if it's on!
What if others want to use it?

You can logout of the sidebar anytime and sign into the site using another Better The World member's information. This way if a friend or family member is surfing on your machine and wants to support their cause, they can do so without having to install anything to your computer!
Will I be able to see my favorite sites?

Yes! The sidebar is designed such that it does not interfere with the main screen where you view your web pages. On smaller monitors, if you visit a site which requires a much larger screen space, then simply toggle the sidebar off to view the site. We've designed the sidebar to take up as little room as possible so that this won't happen for the majority of the websites out there. That, and screen sizes are only getting bigger nowadays so this will be less of a problem in the future.
Do I need to keep it open to earn money/points?

Yes, the way points are earned in the sidebar is through the ads that are served to you as you surf. If you close the sidebar, ads cannot be shown, and hence no money can be raised.
What if i leave my browser on overnight?

Ads will only rotate when you're actively surfing on the web browser, so you won't earn any points if you close the sidebar, leave it on overnight, or leave it running in the background.
Do i get more points for clicking on the ads?

Not at this time - you get points simply by viewing them. But we're careful in selecting only good ads for you to view, so if you're interested in the ad, do click on it and pay our sponsors a visit!
How come I don't see any ads on my sidebar?
